Why We Oppose FIFA

Mega sports events like FIFA give governments and corporations a profitable pretext to accelerate and exacerbate existing inequities. Today, Seattle residents face relentless repression and increasing instability, including but not limited to: surveillance; excessive and violent sweeps; exclusion zones; arbitrary and dehumanizing ICE raids; check-points; authoritarian crack-downs on political dissent; and power being stripped away from renters while empowering land-owning elites.
